Hey whats up yall, guess what? BLACK PEOPLE ARE FAT!! Yeah I said it, get mad. The truth can oftentimes piss people off.. Well heres the truth: Black people have a 51 percent higher prevalence of obesity than whites. Is that not a scary enough statistic? Ok how about this, about four out of five African American women are overweight or obese. If you are overweight, I'm not coming at you, I'm coming at the system that drives you. They want us to be overweight, they want us to have heart disease, they want us to die early.
Advertising
Television is more powerful than you think. Aside from promoting laziness, television is poisonous.. especially to children. Program content is detrimental to anyones minds these days, but the real culprits are COMMERCIALS! The very existence of tv was built around advertising. Those major networks do not care what they entertain you with as long as they have your attention and they can sell your time to advertisers. MTV and VH1 figured out that people like watching blacks folks act a fool so they put on shows like Flavor of Love. Now mind you, black people are embarrassing themselves on a national level just for the sake of advertising. During any black program, they will have a McDonalds commercial or some other fast food chain with black guys playing basketball, or chicken nuggets rapping, or have rap music or R&B playing a catchy tune. They try to identify with you to get you to buy their garbage. Black people watch these commercials and begin to identify with the product because there is some kind of hint to black culture in them . In the 90's Sprite suddenly decided to identify with hip-hop, every time you looked around there was some black rapper rapping about obeying your thirst. Our children are honestly believing that a beverage with no nutritional value represents hip-hop. At first they completely ignored black ppl next thing you knew they started rapping!
Oooh She Thick!
At the end of last year and beginning of this one, I was at my heaviest. I was thick and proud of it, and received attention from men that had not really noticed me before. We all know that our brothers prefer their women to be on the healthier side, and thick is 'in' for us. I think the mistake that is happening is this `full-figured woman' title--she's no longer considered obese, she's just full-figured--it's a death sentence for the Black woman. I'd like to choke the person who came up with that title because it's killing us, and we should be sick and tired of going to funerals of Black women in their 50s. Black women don't view their weight problem as a health problem. Positive self-image is undoubtedly a plus for overweight women, but many make the sometimes fatal mistake of equating good looks with being healthy. Mo'Nique lied to you, there is nothing sexy about being overweight and having health issues. Before Western civilization was made (which practices wicked ways of poisoning food and drinks), Black women used to be shapely but ATHLETIC, ate right food and at the right time. Most women of African descent are overweight and should seek to lower those high levels of body fat because the body is our temple and for us women, it's the temple for LIFE! Our sisters who are obese and grossly overweight should not avoid taking responsibility to maintain a healthy and reasonable weight. I hear so much stupidity being spewed by my own people, such as 'Eating healthy and being in shape is for white folks' and 'My man likes me thick'. If I condemn morbid obesity I must be trying to support Eurocentric culture? Now, I am not saying that big is not beautiful but big is not HEALTHY. I have stopped drinking sodas, stopped eating beef and pork, dont eat much fried foods or prepackaged garbage, exercise regularly and consume ALOT of water now. I not only have lost weight, but I've honestly never felt better. I have more energy, and my skin looks amazing.
Unhealthy Foods are CHEAP!!
Minorities are not making as much money as their European counterparts, even in the same professional fields. That is what makes it so easy for them to sell us this trash. Unhealthy food is cheap as hell...double-cheeseburgers are a dollar a piece at most burger joints. So, black people tend to use fresh foods being expensive as an excuse not to eat right. Coincidentally, those Air Jordans werent too expensive... or that Prada bag. Its all about priorities, we spend more money on what we put on our bodies than what we put in our bodies. Besides, if we actually did our research, we'd find that we can eat healthier on a budget. The notion of eating healthy is too often dismissed as too expensive. Sure, buying organic does cost more, and fast food, with its convenience factor and cheap prices, appears more appealing to those on a tight budget. But to eat better doesn't necessarily mean you have to shop exclusively at Whole Foods or farmers' markets; it's perfectly doable to maintain a healthy diet without breaking the bank.
In industrialized, mechanized, left brained, unbalanced partriachy societies Black people are grossly overweight and suffer radical diseases and great depression. I know how people are, and I know there are some who will feel offended by my post, which is far from my intention. I could understand you being offended if I was making false accusations but from readily available statistics what I'm saying is absolutely 100% true. A body built on high quality, natural, whole organic food is of higher quality than a body built on poorer quality commercial food or fast foods industry. And its not about looking good, but more about feeling good. Our ancients ancestors didn't make a distinction between energizing and beautifying the physical and the spiritual, why should we? At any rate, this topic is not meant to bash Black peoples habits, just to inform.
